LGBTQ (i.e., lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning) is an umbrella term that can include sexual orientation (i.e., asexual, bisexual, gay, lesbian, omnisexual/pansexual, questioning, and skoliosexual) and gender identities (i.e., gender fluid, gender-queer, non-binary, gender-variant, neither male nor female, etc). Gender identities conclude that gender and sexual orientation are separate entities that are not easily visible. Gender identity is how the person identifies on or off the male/female continuum. Transgender people typically do not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth.
